Sinbad the Sailor is another age-long fictional character from the Arabian night's tale. It first hit the movie scene way back in 1935. Sinbad the Sailor is based on the story of a voyager from the town of Basra. The character is made up with a genie fond of tangling with magical creatures, imaginary spirits, angels and humans. Sinbad the Sailor is reputed for his voyages, trails, knowledge of the water world and strange places.

The plot of Sinbad the Sailor is set on seven voyages of absolute wonders across uncertain and varied climes. It is the outcome of a chance meeting by a porter with a home owner, both of whom go by the synonymous name, Sinbad. The porter is distraught by the wealth of the rich in a world populated by the poor. Not knowing the path of the rich from their past to their present estate of wealth. The rich householder proceeds to tell the story of his wealth from the seven magical and wonder laced adventures around the world.

Similar to all Arabian nights tales, Sinbad's adventures are based on stories that result from oral traditions handed down by the means of story telling. The movie and tale has continued to keep its audience spell-bound by the pure magic, peculiarity and whiz of the situations which run through out the movie come story. The Arabian nights' tradition comes away as one means of perpetuating knowledge and the experiences of the previous generations to the present one and beyond.

It is amazing how generations of the vehicle invention through that of the baby boomers down to that of the present Internet age will find a common ground in a tale so told and yet fascinating. The aura of the magical find its unique feel in Sinbad the Sailor, and is well transported to the audience who cannot but be impressed by the mesmerizing stunts of Sinbad the Sailor through out the entire plot. The mythical powers told through the ages as resident in the high seas, the oceans and the entire body of water is featured and well played up in the film.

The character of Sinbad the Sailor, finds a niche as probably someone who was around in the middle-ages when it was all clear that knowledge was surrounded by suspense. It is not amazing that the story is laced with the supernatural and anecdotes that point to the existence of the Supreme Beings and spirits that disorder the terrestrial and celestial climes. All of them apparently beckon on the daring and the brave to take the plunge whenever their own lives must be eventful and out of the ordinary. It is the same similar concept in the Persian wars and ode to the gods played out in the jungle belt of West Africa.
